Dear Family and Friends

 September 2022 I was diagnosed with Triple Postive breast cancer. I started my battle with 6 rounds of chemotherapy, I had some serious side affects that ended with me having a pace maker inserted and learning that I will be dependent on for the rest of my life. I then underwent surgery for a single mastectomy, which I unexpectedly ended up having to have a radical mastectomy with 28 lymph nodes removed. I’m currently on chemotherapy treatment 5 out of 12. I’m receiving 16 rounds of radiation therapy that will end this August 21st. I will have to face 2 more surgeries in the upcoming months. Then 10 years of medications to help prevent recurrence.

It’s been a long road to get where I am, I’m thankful to god every day.

I’ve been blessed with love and support from loving family and many friends and local communities coming together to help me financially. I’ve been shown so much compassion from all the Doctors, radiologists, nurses and surgeons at Dr.A.A Wilkinson Health Center in Old Perlican, Carbonear General Hospital, St.Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Health Science Center and Dr.H.Bliss Murphy Cancer Center. The cancer care clinic is such a warm welcoming place, you feel the care as soon as you walk in the door with the big smiles from the receptionist, it made these last few week so much easier. 

 I’ve decided this October, I will participate in the Polka Dot Trot. Polka Dot Trot is the Cancer Care Foundations Signature Event which raises funds to support cancer patients and their families in Newfoundland & Labrador. All proceeds benefit cancer patients and their families who receive cancer care at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre in St. John’s, Cancer Centre Gander, Cancer Centre Grand Falls-Windsor and Cancer Centre Corner Brook and 15 local chemotherapy sites across Newfoundland and Labrador.

This year, I am walking to help women battling breast cancer. I have made this commitment and need your help to meet my goal of a $1000.00 so that I can participate.
