October 2024 was a month I will never forget! The months that followed are ones that will remain vivid in my mind as well.

I had my annual mammogram, no different from any other year, BUT it was different this year. I got that dreaded call....you need to come back for another test.....then it started.....you need to have a biopsy....you need to have a lumpectomy......all from October to January 2025. 

Okay, with the support from my husband, the best siblings and friends, you got this. 

I did! I had it. 

52 years old after losing my mom to ovarian cancer 25 years prior, nothing to this.

First surgery, first scar, let's get it done. January 7th done! Returned for check-up at end of January.....need to go back in for another lumpectomy (didn't get enough first time). Okay, cmon, let's get it done. March 5th, 53, second surgery done.  

At the end of April, I got another call, and we think you should mastectomy. Sure, I don't need them at this stage in my life they serve no purpose other than spending money on good bra's.

It is now July 28th, and I just had my left breast removed. It is a lot!!

People asked me leading up to surgery how I can be so strong and I couldn't answer them because I didn't know where my strength was coming from but I wasn't scared, I knew it had to be done.

 Since Friday, I repeated to many of the same people I wish I still had that strength now... I still have the best support team around me, but wow! It really is a lot!
